There are Refugees in Spokane?

Yes!  There are thousands of refugees living in Spokane.  The fact that very few people know this shows how invisible their population is.  Global Neighborhood seeks to help all refugees in our city.  With about 600 more coming every year, this is a big task!  Please donate and volunteer!   Global Neighborhood is working with people from:

Burma                Eritrea

Nepal                  Sudan

Burundi               Iraq

Rwanda              And More!

Global Neighborhood is a non-profit (501c3) organization in Spokane, Washington that seeks to serve refugees living in our city. When they first arrive, Spokane’s refugees are resettled by World Relief, a VolAg (Volunteer Agency) with a government contract to provide refugees with a variety of services. These services range from social work to help finding jobs and last for the refugees’ first 180 days in Spokane.

Since we believe that friendships, though often less efficient than social service programs, are the most effective means of providing life-changing help to refugees, we seek to facilitate relationships between American volunteers and refugees whenever possible. The world has come to our city in the form of refugees, and, as the hands and feet of our organization, volunteers allow us to serve, respect, teach, and learn from refugees. Together, we create a brighter future for refugees in our city.
