Global Neighborhood!

Volunteer with a Family

Global Neighborhood requires a full calendar year commitment for those interested in volunteering with a refugee family. These volunteers are expected to visit the refugee family at least once every other week, and work to engage in a mutual and genuine relationship with a family. Interested? Please click on the below link and complete the application. You will be contacted via email for an informal interview meeting shortly.

Please note: All perspective volunteers must attend a Global Neighborhood Volunteer Training before they begin volunteering with a refugee family. Check out this link to see the dates of upcoming trainings and other Global Neighborhood events!

One-On-One ESL Tutoring

***As of 5/07/2010, Global Neighborhood's One-On-One ESL Tutoring will not be accepting new ESL volunteers. Regular One-On-One ESL Tutoring will commence in September 2010.

Every Friday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Global Neighborhood offices downtown, volunteers help refugees with their English skills. Worksheets, activities, and conversation topics guide volunteers in teaching the refugees. While ESL experience is not necessary, some experience working with other cultures and/or languages is recommended. Due to the varied numbers in refugees who come to the Global Neighborhood office every week, we may not accept all volunteers interested in this opportunity.
